Jeff Rogers
Jeff Rogers was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick in 1980 and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. By the age of four he was playing the nursery rhymes his mother sang to him on his little toy piano. It was at this point Jeff’s parents decided to buy him a keyboard, and he took to it quickly.
He joined his first band at the age of 10, playing piano. Throughout middle and high school, Jeff concentrated on alto sax and jazz. Having joined the Nepean All-City Jazz band at 17, he later received the honour of being appointed 1st chair alto on the Musicfest National All-Star Band in Vancouver, 1999 (an 18 piece band selected from over 6000 participants across Canada). After high school, Jeff decided to give playing guitar and singing a try. Hitting the ‘open mic’ nights across Ottawa, he fine-tuned his voice and stage presence.
From the age of 18, Jeff has played in many different bands from various styles ranging from funk, punk, rock, pop, blues, swing, jazz, and salsa. Having been involved in so many different projects and genres has really enriched his musical perspective.
For the 3 years, Jeff has was one of Ottawa’s duelling piano players at Fat Tuesday’s in the Byward Market. Every Thursday, (with a blues/funk trio) and every Friday (duelling piano show) you can find him there. The show received acclaim from a local magazine called Trenz, which ran a cover-story article on the show, and featured Jeff on the cover playing his sax.
While Jeff’s repertoire is vast, he is excited to focus on original music now. He cites B.B. King and Stevie Wonder as his most notable musical influences. This is where, he says, his sound and soul are inspired. Other influences include Jamiroquai, John Mayer, and Ben Harper.
Jeff is strong burgeoning force to the Canadian music scene, and brings forward a unique frontman position with piano, sax and vocals front and center.
Each Thursday Jeff Rogers and the All Day Daddies can be heard at the Heart and Crown 353 B Preston St. Ottawa Ontario Canada from 10pm-2am
