Private lessons

Private lessons can be held at the student’s home or at the teacher’s studio.

All Shine instructors have been handpicked for their professional and mentoring experience. The Shine Model seeks to put students in touch with the performers who make things happen in the local and international music scenes. Many instructors have international touring experience and have created and led successful original projects ranging from:

• Pop-rock shows
• The study of Indian classical music
• Klezmer bands
• Film and CD production
• The jazz club environment
• International touring
• The commercial pit orchestra.

The Shine Method is tailored, on an individual basis, to the needs of each student and ensures that all instructors are responsible for the successful instruction of music fundamentals. Director Adam Daudrich is responsible for all student courses and accountable to each parent/guardian. An assessment (often the first lesson) is provided free of charge when, the student or parent/guardian decides, for whatever reason, to not take a second lesson. Should a student/parent/guardian wish to discontinue lessons after registration, the cost of remaining lessons will be refunded.

Group

Group instruction is held in an appropriate rented studio space. Group size is based on:

• genre
• enrollment
• age
• performance ability

Consideration for groups will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director in discussion with parents/guardian.

Age approx. 11-14        BAND FOCUS 1

This is a Band class. All instruments are invited including voice. Girls and Boys rehearse, practice songs together. Styles such as rock, pop, jazz, klezmer. Songs are worked out with an instructor/mentor who guides the class. Kids learn how to be in a band. This is a lot of fun!

Age approx. 14-17      BAND FOCUS 2

This is for kids who have experience playing music in groups (at school or at home). It is designed to explore styles of music: ie how to play a blues, how to play with a singer, to read chord changes, how to set up equipment and ‘get a good sound’

Age approx. 15-20      SCHOOL OF ROCK

This is a School-of-Rock
Loud guitars, bass, drums, vocals.
Boys and Girls

The studio space is designed for rock music and musicians. A mentor with years of experience will guide rehearsals and challenge players to perform better, tighter and with attitude to spare!

Occasional free-of-charge group sessions will be offered to encourage students to “get out of the lesson” and to communicate musically with each other, with teachers and with invited guests. The Shine community will be informed of upcoming events.
