Bio

At its heart, The New Originals features music from multiple eras, older and new. This reflects the nature of the membership: Young, talented, up-and-comers performing alongside a seasoned, veteran musician as their musical director. The same hold true for their music. The New Originals choose today’s contemporary music (bruno Mars, Daft Punk, and The Black Keys) performed hand in hand with a bevy of beloved classics (The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye). If youre 16 or 66, there is always a great time to be had at a New Originals show.

As the former Musical Director of The Funk Brothers and Wilson Pickett, Kelly Craig was intent on making Backbeat a solid, young band tailored for corporate events from the start of the project. From the onset, the group was meant to be modular in nature, making room for horn players, additional vocalists, and percussionists to be added as needed. Many rounds of auditions were held, and over 80 musicians threw their hat into the ring. True to his intention, after just a few rehearsals, it was clear that The New Originals would be offering the ‘something’ that very few groups can provide; an energetic performance of contemporary material informed by artists of the past. The band is now lightning in a bottle and its popularity is growing. The New Originals have since performed at numerous events – corporate parties, wedding receptions, and club dates – all to an enthusiastic response. Their potent mix of youthful energy and proven experiences is a real crowd winner. If you have an event planned of any size for people of any rage – The New Originals are the band to hire!
The New Originals are:

  • Rebecca Noelle (lead singer);
  • Cameron Wyatt (lead guitar/vocals);
  • Andrew Ferderber (drummer);
  • Clayton Connell (keyboardist/back-up singer/Assistant Musical Director);
  • Kelly Craig (bassist/back-up singer/Musical Director)
  • Chris Gerdei (Trumpet)
  • Mr. Honk (Saxophones)

This group sounds great on its own but makes for an even more amazing show when then their horn section gets in on the action (1-3 piece section: sax + trumpet + trombone). Additional backup singers(1-3) are available upon request.
