Studio Guidelines, Points and Rates:
- Shine is a federally registered charity based on cooperative, community effort and dedicated to music education, performance and production;
- Shine’s rates are kept reasonable and 24/7 access is available to encourage original music production and studio access to a wide a segment of the community;
- Scheduling preference is given to artists creating original music and artists or groups embarking on charitable activities in the community;
- Respect for the studio as a facility and a shared community resource is paramount;
- Musicians and/or engineers are responsible for leaving the studio at a standard outlined by the studio curator; the studio curator may request an alternate set up depending on what the studio is to be used for next; A clean up charge may be levied of this is not done.
- Standard hourly rates are defined and posted on the website or available on request;
- All scheduling requests, rate exemption requests and bulk rates for individuals and groups must be discussed with the curator;
- Musicians are expected to arrive on time if they have not been given the door code. Musicians must also leave on time as time slots are often booked back to back. The agreed hours must be paid in full and on time. The agreed hours must also take into account the time required to return the studio to the agreed standard;
- It is solely up to the curator to grant or deny access;
- Negotiating for a bulk rate for studio access is possible. The following factors will be taken into account when a bulk rate is requested: original music production, times and number of hours, the history of the client with Shine and the needs of other clients;
- Illegal activities and substances are prohibited in the studio at all times.

Working from provided audio sources Shine can prepare written charts for every instrument in a performance. Charts can be prepared on tight deadlines. This in-depth understanding allows music direction with a smooth, right-on sound.
Shine offers complete services for production including writing, arranging and musical direction. In the past Shine has provided writing and musical arrangement for such bands as the now-legendary Funk Brothers and Wilson Pickett and is able to provide years of world-class skills to the largest or smallest production.Writing, Arranging and Musical Direction

Studio Musicians For Hire
Shine has close ties with much of the Ottawa area musical community and is committed to connect talent with opportunities. Many of the performers have decades of experience across the country and internationally. Shine can also provide connection to some of Ottawa’s young rising stars who, thanks to the in-depth concentration on studio production and performance via Shine Music Academy, have the chops to play with confidence in studio or live performances. Shine musicians can read and play by ear. In addition to session musicians of any kind for any style of music, Shine’s roster of musicians are available as backup players and singers for live performances.
